So much of what makes up Lord Triceratops is stuck in my head. It’s been piling up for as long as I can remember. Plenty of times I have spontaneously recorded riffs, with the intention of going back and working the best ones into songs. This does not happen as often as I intend. For the most part, I’m working today solely off of what’s in my head. An entire arrangement of riffs, melodies, and beats that, if I close my eyes, I can visualize start to finish.
Over the past couple of years, I have been intermittently (but consistently) putting these thoughts down, one song / idea at a time. I’m at a point now where, if I make an aggressive push, I can reach a milestone by finally hearing one part of an overall vision created over ten years ago.
I believe most musicians work a lot faster than I do. I’d also be lying if I said it doesn’t bother me it’s taken this long to get here. At the same time, I see Lord Triceratops as sort-of organic. It’s a part of me. I’m looking forward to finally sharing.
